Middle East Region
1. Iraq
An explosion occurred in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq on May 16. No detailed information about casualties and incident causes has been released so far.
2. Iran
Maritime standoffs continue. No progress was made in Iran-US negotiations from May 11 to 17, with the two sides remaining in confrontation across the Strait of Hormuz and adjacent waters.
On May 12, senior naval officer of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Mohammad Akbarzadeh stated that a US frigate attempted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran closely monitored its movement and fired warning shots against its provocative acts, forcing the warship to alter course.
On the same day, joint US and Israeli forces launched airstrikes on Hormozgan Province of Iran, precisely striking multiple coastal military hubs including Abbas Port, Qeshm Port and Minab Naval Base, destroying port defense facilities and military ammunition depots.
3. Palestine and Israel
The Palestinian-Israeli conflict has caused 72,700 deaths in the Gaza Strip. From May 11 to 17, Israel carried out continuous attacks across Gaza, triggering heavy casualties.
May 11: Israeli forces conducted raids in Nablus and Bethlehem in the West Bank, and shelled Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza, leaving 12 civilians injured.
May 12: Israeli airstrikes hit residential areas in southern Gaza, killing a 16-year-old Palestinian teenager and wounding many others.
May 15: Another Israeli airstrike on Gaza City killed at least 7 Palestinians and injured dozens more.
According to the latest statistics released by the Gaza Health Ministry on May 16, since the entry into force of the first-phase Gaza ceasefire agreement in October 2025, Israeli military operations in Gaza have killed 972 people and injured 2,543 others. Since the outbreak of large-scale Palestinian-Israeli conflicts on October 16, 2023, Israeli attacks on Gaza have resulted in a total of 72,757 deaths, 172,645 injuries, and over 43,000 people disabled due to military operations, a quarter of whom are children.
4. Lebanon
Sustained Israeli strikes cause heavy casualties. Israel kept launching military strikes against Lebanon from May 11 to 17 with massive casualties:
May 12: Airstrikes on southern Lebanon killed at least 4 people and injured 19 including 2 medical workers.
May 13: Drone attacks hit southern Beirut, leaving 10 dead and 27 injured.
May 15: Airstrikes on multiple towns in Tyre killed 12 people and wounded 37.
Lebanon’s Ministry of Health confirmed on May 15 that since the resumption of Lebanon-Israel conflicts on March 2, Israeli assaults have killed 2,991 people and injured 8,988 in Lebanon.
Israeli troops suffer casualties: On May 11, the Israel Defense Forces confirmed one soldier died in border clashes; on May 14, a parking lot on the Israeli side of the temporary Lebanon-Israel border was targeted by Hezbollah drones, injuring 3 Israeli civilians; on May 15, drone attacks on the Israeli-controlled security buffer zone in southern Lebanon killed one Israeli military commander and wounded one soldier.
UNIFIL disturbed by drones: The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon issued a statement on May 13, noting multiple drones exploded near its headquarters in Naqoura, southern Lebanon on May 11 and 12, damaging facilities and endangering peacekeepers. UNIFIL has lodged protests with both Israel and Lebanon.
5. Libya
Football fan riots near Tripoli left 1 dead and 7 injured on the night of May 14. The unrest broke out in Tarhuna City over controversial match rulings, with fans assaulting players and setting security vehicles on fire. Clashes erupted between the 444th Brigade and unidentified gunmen, causing one soldier’s death. The riots spread to downtown Tripoli, where protesters set fire to parts of the Prime Minister’s Office.
6. United Arab Emirates
A drone attack ignited generators outside the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant on May 17 with no casualties reported. The fire has been fully contained without any impact on nuclear safety.
Asia-Pacific Region
1. Pakistan
Two bomb blasts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa killed 18 people and injured 44 on May 12. One market bombing targeted police patrol vehicles; another armed raid on a military camp caused heavy military casualties. No organization has claimed responsibility.
Violent armed robbery targeting Chinese citizens occurred in Golra, Islamabad on May 13. Three armed men hijacked a vehicle driven by Chinese nationals to a remote village, robbed all cash, mobile phones and vehicles before releasing the victims.
2. India
Severe rainstorms and hailstorms in Uttar Pradesh killed 111 people and injured 72 on May 14, collapsing numerous buildings and trapping many residents.

3. Myanmar
A shooting incident in Tanbyuzayat Town, Mon State killed 3 people on May 14, local police have launched an official investigation.
4. Philippines
A shooting broke out inside the Senate building in Manila on May 13 with no casualties; the suspect, a driver of the National Bureau of Investigation, was subdued by security guards.
Philippine military forces clashed with the New People’s Army on May 16, killing 5 anti-government armed militants.
5. Malaysia
A stabbing attack in a temple in Cameron Highlands injured one person on May 12, the suspect has been arrested.
6. New Zealand
A traffic accident on New Zealand’s South Island killed 2 Hong Kong Chinese tourists and injured another 2 on May 15. The Chinese Consulate General immediately activated emergency response mechanisms to provide consular assistance.
African Region
1. Nigeria
Armed raids on three schools in Oyo State on May 15 killed one vice principal and abducted many teachers and students.
Security Alert: The overall security situation in Nigeria remains severe with frequent theft, robbery, kidnapping and terrorist incidents. As the Eid al-Adha (May 27-28) approaches, mass religious gatherings and population mobility will surge, raising public security and traffic risks. Chinese enterprises and citizens in Nigeria are advised to stay vigilant, minimize outdoor activities and avoid crowded and sensitive areas.
2. South Africa
Extreme weather including heavy floods, thunderstorms and snowstorms swept across multiple South African provinces starting May 4, causing at least 10 deaths, massive property losses and flight disruptions. The South African government officially classified the disaster as a national catastrophe.
3. Democratic Republic of the Congo
A new Ebola outbreak erupted in Ituri Province on May 15, with 246 suspected cases and 80 confirmed deaths nationwide, including 4 laboratory-confirmed Ebola fatalities.
4. Sudan
Armed confrontations between Sudanese Armed Forces and Rapid Support Forces continued fiercely across Khartoum, Kordofan and South Darfur from May 11 to 17, causing massive civilian casualties. Dozens of drone strikes on local markets and medical facilities have killed no fewer than 880 civilians from January to April this year.
5. Kenya
An armed attack on a settlement in Wajir County injured one person and burned down two houses on May 13.
Europe & Americas Region
1. United States
A lumber mill explosion and fire in Waldo County, Maine on May 15 killed one firefighter and injured 11 others, the accident cause is under investigation.

2. Ukraine
Russia-Ukraine conflicts resumed after a brief ceasefire. Russian forces launched large-scale precision strikes against Ukrainian military industries, airfields, fuel depots and drone facilities, shooting down thousands of Ukrainian drones and seizing multiple residential areas in Donetsk. Ukrainian troops retaliated by striking Russian command posts, ammunition depots and frontier military targets, and made territorial advances in Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia.
3. Russia
Multiple Ukrainian drone attacks hit Bryansk, Ryazan and other Russian regions, killing 5 civilians and injuring 12 people, damaging residential buildings and industrial facilities. Russian air defense forces intercepted over 50 hostile drones.
4. Mexico
A refinery explosion in Oaxaca State injured 6 people on May 11. An armed shooting spree in Puebla State on May 17 left 10 people dead including infants.
5. France
Two separate shooting incidents in Nice and Nantes killed 3 people and injured 8 in total.
6. Greece
A shooting in Peloponnese Region left one person injured on May 11.
7. Italy
A vehicle ramming attack in Modena injured 8 pedestrians (4 severely) on May 16, the perpetrator was arrested on the spot.
8. Colombia
Two campaign staff were shot dead in Meta Department on May 15.
9. Ecuador
A mass shooting at a volleyball court in Manabí Province killed 5 people and injured 5 others on May 16.
Maritime Security
1. Strait of Hormuz
An Indian merchant ship was sunk by drone attacks off the coast of Oman near the Strait of Hormuz on May 14, all crew members were rescued safely.
2. Malaysia
An illegal immigration boat capsized near Bangka Island on May 11, leaving 14 people missing and 23 survivors rescued. Search operations are still ongoing.

3. United Arab Emirates
A merchant vessel was hijacked by unauthorized personnel 38 nautical miles northeast of Fujairah on May 14 and is heading towards Iranian territorial waters. The incident is under full investigation.
