According to security risk assessment, regional security levels are shown on the global risk map. Afghanistan, Syria, Myanmar, Pakistan, Nigeria, Sudan, Ukraine, Palestine, Venezuela and other regions are designated as Extremely High-Risk Areas. During this period, armed conflicts, terrorist attacks and other security incidents occur frequently in these regions. Overseas Chinese-funded enterprises shall strengthen security precautions.

Middle East
(1) Iraq
3 militants killed in Kirkuk Governorate. On May 6, the Iraqi Air Force launched airstrikes in mountainous areas of northern Kirkuk Governorate, killing 3 ISIL militants and destroying their hideout. Iraqi military stated that after three days of intelligence surveillance and tracking, the Air Force carried out two strikes on the afternoon of May 6, destroying two hideouts and eliminating 3 armed militants.
(2) Iran
Frequent maritime conflicts break out. From May 4 to 10, negotiations between Iran and the US reached a deadlock, with multiple armed clashes erupting in waters around the Strait of Hormuz.
On May 4, U.S. Central Command stated U.S. forces sank 6 small Iranian vessels attempting to block merchant shipping in the Strait of Hormuz using cruise missiles and drones. Iran refuted that the targeted vessels were not warships but
two small passenger boats, leaving 5 civilian fatalities. Iran launched two missiles the same day, hitting a U.S. warship.
On May 7, U.S. Central Command announced that a U.S. Navy destroyer formation came under Iranian attack while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. forces subsequently conducted targeted strikes on Iranian military facilities including missile and drone launch sites, command-and-control centers, and intelligence reconnaissance nodes.
On May 8, a spokesperson for the Iranian Armed Forces stated the US violated the ceasefire by striking an Iranian oil tanker and another vessel in the Strait of Hormuz. Also on May 8, the US launched another attack on an Iranian naval base in Minab, Hormozgan Province.
Statistics show successive U.S. strikes have caused
5 deaths, 16 injuries and 11 missing persons in Iran.
(3) Palestine and Israel
Palestinian-Israeli conflict death toll in Gaza hits 72,700+. From May 4 to 10, Israel continued launching strikes across Gaza, causing heavy casualties.
On May 4, an Israeli airstrike on central Gaza killed a Hamas commander.
On May 6, Israeli airstrikes struck displaced person camps in Jabalia (northern Gaza) and Mawasi, Khan Yunis (southern Gaza), leaving 5 dead and over ten injured.
The Gaza Ministry of Health released updated statistics on May 9: Since the first-phase Gaza ceasefire agreement took effect in October 2025, Israeli operations have caused 837 deaths and 2,381 injuries in Gaza. Since the large-scale outbreak on October 7, 2023, Israeli attacks on Gaza have cumulatively led to 72,736 deaths and 172,535 injuries.
(4) Lebanon
Continuous Israeli airstrikes cause heavy casualties. From May 4 to 10, Israel sustained military strikes against Lebanon with massive casualties.
On May 6, Israel launched an airstrike on Haret Hreik in the southern suburbs of Beirut, killing at least 2 and injuring 7.
On May 7, two towns — Aita al-Shaab and Ramiyah in southern Lebanon — came under Israeli airstrikes and artillery bombardment, leaving 1 injured.
On May 8, Israel carried out further airstrikes across southern Lebanon, killing at least 18 and wounding many.
Lebanon’s Ministry of Health reported on May 9 that since the resumption of hostilities on March 2, Israeli attacks have caused 2,795 deaths and 8,586 injuries in Lebanon.

Two Israeli soldiers injured in retaliatory attack. On May 6, the Israel Defense Forces stated Hezbollah launched rockets, mortar shells and drones at Israeli troops stationed in southern Lebanon, leaving 2 Israeli soldiers injured.
(5) UAE
Missile and drone attacks leave 3 injured. Multiple locations in the UAE came under attack on May 4 and 8, causing 3 injuries.
On May 4, a drone attack struck the Fujairah oil industrial zone, injuring 3 Indian nationals. The UAE Ministry of Defence reported detecting 4 cruise missiles incoming from Iran; 3 were intercepted over territorial waters and 1 fell into the sea. This marked the
first attack on the UAE since the temporary Iran–US–Israel ceasefire on April 8.
On May 8, UAE air defense systems intercepted 2 ballistic missiles and 3 drones launched from Iran. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned Iran’s attacks on civilian facilities and infrastructure. Iran’s Armed Forces and Foreign Ministry denied launching any missile or drone strikes against the UAE.
(6) Libya
Armed conflict in Zawiya leaves 5 dead. On May 8, armed clashes erupted in Zawiya, western Libya, killing at least 5 people. Multiple armed groups fought in and around downtown Zawiya. Heavy artillery shells landed near the Zawiya Oil Refining Company site, killing one security guard and forcing the refinery to suspend operations temporarily.
Asia-Pacific Region
(1) Pakistan
Two suicide bombings leave 16 dead and multiple injured.
On May 4, a suicide attack occurred in South Waziristan, killing 1 civilian and injuring 15. An attacker drove an explosives-laden vehicle targeting a military checkpoint near Azam Warsak; the vehicle was destroyed before reaching the target. The blast damaged a religious seminary, petrol station and several shops and residences nearby.
On May 9, a suicide bombing targeted a police checkpoint in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, killing at least 15 police officers and wounding many. The attack took place at around 20:55 local time. The attacker rammed an explosive-laden car into the checkpoint, followed by drone and ground assaults. An armed group named
Pakistan Mujahideen Alliance claimed responsibility via social media.

(2) Indonesia
Fatal stabbing in Jakarta leaves 1 dead. On May 7, a stabbing incident in West Jakarta, Indonesia killed one person. The perpetrator has been arrested by police.
(3) India
Shooting in West Bengal leaves 1 dead. On May 7, a political aide of India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party was ambushed by two gunmen in West Bengal and killed.
(4) Japan
Nationwide anti-constitutional-amendment rallies held. On May 7, multiple cities in Japan held peace rallies opposing constitutional revision. Tens of thousands of protesters took to the streets in Tokyo to oppose the government’s push for constitutional amendment and military buildup. Demonstrators held banners reading Oppose War and Defend the Constitution, calling to uphold Japan’s pacifist constitution.
Africa Region
(1) Nigeria
Multiple attacks leave 22 dead and 6 abducted. Per monitoring reports from Hanwei International West Africa Security Officer:
Night of May 4: Bandits raided a market in Dandume LGA, Katsina State, killing 7 traders.
May 5: Armed raiders struck two communities in Dekina, Kogi State, killing 1 and injuring 2; overnight, Nding Susut community in Barkin Ladi LGA, Plateau State was attacked, leaving 6 dead.
Night of May 6: 6 students abducted in an attack on the Engineering Faculty, Keffi Campus, Nasarawa State University; ISIL West Africa militants assaulted a military base in Magumeri LGA, Borno State, killing 2 soldiers and wounding 1 commander; a mass funeral gathering in Fan district, Barkin Ladi LGA, Plateau State came under attack with heavy casualties.
May 7: An improvised explosive device detonated on the Bagega–Anka highway, Zamfara State, killing at least 6 and injuring 6.
(2) South Africa
Two traffic accidents in Eastern Cape leave 12 dead. On May 4, two consecutive road accidents in Eastern Cape Province killed 12 people and injured 21.
First incident: A minibus carrying passengers collided with an empty bus while making a U-turn in Kariega, leaving 7 dead and 18 injured.
Second incident: A sedan with 8 occupants lost control and overturned in Chris Hani District, killing 5 and injuring 3.

(3) Mali
Military launches large-scale militant crackdown. On May 5, Malian military stated its armed forces conducted nationwide airstrikes on May 4, destroying militant vehicles and ammunition depots.
Strikes first targeted a terrorist hideout west of Djoulia, Mopti Region, destroying 6 pickup trucks, several motorcycles and a concealed fuel and ammunition warehouse.
A second airstrike north of Sévaré, Mopti Region killed around 50 militants and destroyed 4 pickup trucks, motorcycles and a large fuel-ammunition depot.
A third round of strikes southeast of Ménaka eliminated another militant cell.
Multiple attacks leave 70 dead. On May 7, armed militants raided two villages in Bandiagara, central Mali, killing at least 35. Further armed assaults across central Mali on May 9 caused dozens of fatalities. An al-Qaeda-linked Malian extremist group claimed responsibility for the May 9 attacks. Local officials confirmed recent violence has left over 70 dead.
(4) DR Congo
Village attacks leave 40 dead. From the night of May 6 to May 7, multiple villages near the Uganda border in the Democratic Republic of the Congo were attacked by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), leaving at least 40 dead with numerous houses burned and looted. Attacks in Beni territory, North Kivu killed 25; another 15 were killed in Ituri Province.
(5) Sudan
Armed conflict continues unabated. From May 4 to 10, sustained clashes continued between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and Rapid Support Forces (RSF) across Sudan. Heavy fighting erupted around Khartoum, White Nile State and Kordofan region, causing massive civilian casualties.
On May 5, a drone attack on a petrol station in Kosti, White Nile State killed 5 and injured 9.
On May 7, armed conflict broke out in Omdurman within the Khartoum metropolitan area, resulting in heavy civilian losses.
Data from the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project shows over three years of ongoing conflict in Sudan has caused at least 59,000 deaths. A Sudanese civil medical network reported on May 6 that repeated attacks on healthcare facilities have killed 235 medical staff, injured 511 and detained 84 personnel by armed groups.
(6) Chad
Military base attack in Lake Chad Province leaves 23 dead, 26 injured. On May 4, a military base in Lake Chad Province, Chad was attacked by Boko Haram militants, causing 23 deaths and 26 injuries. The military stated the assault was repelled with large numbers of attackers killed; mopping-up operations are ongoing.
(7) Kenya
Armed attack in Mandera County leaves 6 dead. On May 9, a bus was ambushed by unidentified gunmen in Mandera County, northeastern Kenya, killing at least 6 people and injuring many. The attackers fled the scene; no group has yet claimed responsibility.
Europe & Americas Region
(1) United States
Two shootings leave 2 dead and 4 injured.
On May 4, a shooting near the National Mall in Washington D.C. left 1 injured.
On May 5, a shooting at a shopping mall in Carrollton, Texas killed 2 and injured 3. Police confirmed the suspect knew the victims with possible business connections. A 69-year-old suspect has been arrested, with the FBI and other agencies investigating the case.
(2) Ukraine
Russia–Ukraine conflict continues. From May 4 to 8, Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine proceeded continuously. Russia’s Ministry of Defence reported long-range precision weapons and attack drones struck Ukraine’s defense industrial and fuel-energy infrastructure heavily. Russian forces also targeted Ukraine’s energy/transport facilities and drone/unmanned vessel assembly, storage and launch sites.
On the Ukrainian side, the General Staff stated Ukrainian forces launched multiple strikes against Russian command posts, ammunition depots and troop assembly areas. Ukraine domestically manufactured
Flamingo cruise missiles targeted Russian military facilities in Kaspiysk (Dagestan) and oil refineries in Perm Krai.
To mark the 81st anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, both Russia and Ukraine announced a three-day unilateral ceasefire from May 9 to 11. However, both sides accused each other of truce violations on May 9, with clashes breaking out in multiple areas.
(3) Russia
Drone attack in Chuvash Republic leaves 2 dead, 34 injured. On May 5, a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack struck the Chuvash Republic, killing 2 (including one child) and injuring 34. Local authorities said drones targeted civilian infrastructure in Cheboksary, damaging 28 apartment buildings and displacing around 700 residents. Russia’s Defence Ministry reported air defense forces intercepted and shot down 88 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones across Russian territory between 09:00 and 14:00 Moscow time.
(4) Mexico
Fire disaster in Tabasco leaves 5 dead. On May 7, a fire broke out at an entertainment venue in Villahermosa, capital of Tabasco State, southeast Mexico, killing at least 5 people. The incident occurred during a concert attended by thousands. The fire has been contained; the cause remains under investigation.
Train-tanker collision in Querétaro leaves 2 dead, 4 injured. On May 5, a passenger train collided with an oil tanker in Colón, Querétaro State, central Mexico, leaving at least 2 dead and 4 injured. The cause is still under investigation.
(5) Germany
Vehicle ramming in Leipzig leaves 2 dead, 22 injured. On May 4, a vehicle deliberately ploughed into a crowd in Leipzig, eastern Germany, killing 2 and injuring 22. The suspect fled and was later arrested; the motive remains unclear.
(6) Brazil
School shooting in Acre leaves 2 dead. On May 5, a school shooting in Rio Branco, capital of Acre State, northwest Brazil killed 2 and injured multiple others; the suspect was arrested. Police stated a 13-year-old student brought a firearm to school and opened fire in corridors, killing two staff members and wounding several students.
Bomb explosion at public school in Rio de Janeiro leaves 10 injured. On May 8, a homemade bomb exploded at a public school in Belford Roxo, Rio de Janeiro State, injuring at least 10 students. A student threw an unexploded homemade bomb found on campus into the air, triggering detonation. Police are searching the premises for further explosive devices.
(7) Austria
Shooting in Linz leaves 3 dead. On May 7, a shooting outside a restaurant in Linz, Austria left 3 dead, including the perpetrator. A man shot two women outside the restaurant before committing suicide.

(8) Netherlands
Explosion attack in The Hague. On the evening of May 7, an explosive device targeted the national office of the Democrats 66 party in The Hague, Netherlands. No casualties were reported, though the building sustained damage. Thirty youth party members were holding a meeting inside when the explosive was inserted through the mailbox and detonated. The perpetrator has been arrested and investigations are underway.
Maritime Security
(1) Strait of Hormuz
Oil tanker hit by drone attack. On May 4, an oil tanker operated by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company was struck by a drone while transiting the Strait of Hormuz; no casualties were reported.
Sailing vessel fire and sinking leaves 1 dead, 4 injured. On May 9, an Indian wooden sailing vessel caught fire and sank near the Strait of Hormuz, killing 1 Indian sailor and injuring 4. Indian authorities are verifying further details.
(2) Eastern Pacific
U.S. military strikes leave 5 dead.
May 5: U.S. Southern Command announced forces targeted an alleged drug trafficking vessel in the Eastern Pacific, killing 3 on board.
May 8: Another U.S. strike on a suspected drug boat in the Eastern Pacific left 2 dead and 1 survivor.
(3) Qatar
Cargo ship attacked and set on fire. On May 10, the UK Maritime Trade Operations Office reported a cargo ship was struck by an unidentified flying object in waters northeast of Doha, Qatar. The vessel caught fire following the impact with no casualties.
