Hanwei International Security Services Co., Ltd. effectively handled a security incident involving an attack on an overseas Chinese-funded enterprise

Corporate News   July 19, 2018

According to the report from Hanwei's Sri Lankan joint venture (HGISS Company): Recently, the southern highway project in Sri Lanka has been continuously targeted by local theft gangs. Before HGISS Company took over the project, the Chinese enterprise had replaced five local security companies, none of which could effectively curb the occurrence of theft incidents. Under these circumstances, HGISS Company strengthened security measures, formulated specific personnel and vehicle control plans, and implemented a system of vehicle inspections, random personnel checks, and regular inventory counts, which effectively reduced the number of theft cases. However, this also provoked dissatisfaction among the theft gangs, leading them to repeatedly harass the Chinese construction camp and orchestrate multiple incidents where HGISS Company's Sri Lankan employees were assaulted. Particularly on July 8th, the theft gang organized another theft attempt. When stopped by HGISS Company's Sri Lankan security personnel, they retaliated multiple times, attacking the security personnel and injuring our staff. The most egregious incident occurred when the gang attempted to storm the Chinese camp at night to carry out a robbery. In this critical situation, the Chinese security inspectors dispatched by HGISS Company, within the bounds of local law, handled the assault on the Chinese camp in a reasonable, advantageous, and measured manner. Together with the Sri Lankan security personnel, they effectively controlled the situation, prevented the potential robbery, and recovered a large amount of stolen goods. This successfully safeguarded the security interests of the Chinese enterprise overseas and earned praise and rewards from the client.
