This report summarizes global security intelligence and developments from July 13 to July 19, 2026. In accordance with security risk assessments and the global risk map, regions including Afghanistan, Syria, Myanmar, Pakistan, Nigeria, Sudan, Ukraine, Palestine, and Venezuela are classified as extremely high-risk areas. Frequent armed conflicts, terrorist attacks and other security incidents were recorded across these regions during the period. Overseas Chinese-funded enterprises are advised to strengthen security precautions.

Middle East
1. Syria
U.S. Forces in Syria Struck by Iran. On July 17, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it had targeted and struck the U.S. Special Operations Command Center at the Al-Tanf military base in Syria, causing U.S. military casualties and destroying one radar system and multiple helicopters. The U.S. side has not yet issued any response.
2. Iraq
Nearby Attack on U.S. Consulate in Erbil. On July 15, multiple drones attacked the vicinity of the U.S. Consulate in Erbil, Kurdistan Region of northern Iraq. No casualties or property losses have been reported so far.
Iranian Missile Strike in Kurdistan Region Leaves 9 Dead and 3 Injured. On July 17, Iranian missiles targeted anti-Iran militant groups in Sulaymaniyah Governorate, Kurdistan Region of northern Iraq, killing 9 members and injuring 3 others.
One Killed and One Injured in U.S. Ordnance Disposal Accident. On July 18, U.S. Central Command stated that an Iranian attack drone was shot down on the same day. An explosion occurred while U.S. troops were disposing of the drone’s ordnance, leaving one U.S. soldier dead and one slightly injured.
3. Iran
Persistent Armed Conflicts between Iran and the United States. From July 13 to 19, the United States launched airstrikes on Iran for seven consecutive nights, causing multiple casualties. The strike targets included coastal air defense radar stations, shore-based anti-ship missile positions, drone launch and landing sites, underground ammunition depots, offshore speedboat berthing points of the IRGC, naval port command posts, coastal defense fortifications, surveillance and monitoring facilities, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage facilities, and maritime combat capabilities in southern Iran.
Multiple bridges, port supporting railway stations, railway hubs, military airports, power supply and communication facilities in port areas and other civilian and supporting facilities in Hormozgan Province were also targeted by U.S. strikes. In addition, U.S. Central Command announced on July 14 that it would resume maritime blockades on vessels traveling to and from Iranian ports and coastal areas from 16:00 U.S. Eastern Time on the same day.
In response, the IRGC launched strikes this week against U.S. military bases and military docks in Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan and Syria, destroying U.S. long-range early warning radars, satellite communication centers, Patriot air defense systems, HIMARS launch positions, multiple ammunition depots, weapons storage warehouses, and operational command centers.
According to the latest data released by the U.S. Department of Defense on July 18, 16 U.S. military personnel have been killed and over 430 injured since the outbreak of U.S.-Iran hostilities on February 28. The Iranian Ministry of Health stated on July 18 that U.S. strikes on Iran since June 27 have killed at least 50 people and injured nearly 500 others.
4. Palestine and Israel
Palestine-Israel Conflict Causes Over 73,100 Deaths in Gaza. From July 13 to 19, Israel launched multiple offensives across Gaza, causing numerous casualties. On July 14, Israeli fighter jets bombed a police station in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, killing 8 people including the camp’s police chief. On July 15, Israeli attacks on western and southern Gaza killed at least 7 Palestinians. On July 17, Israeli airstrikes hit the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, leaving at least 8 dead and 20 injured. On July 18, Israeli airstrikes targeted two communities in Gaza City, killing 8 people in total.
According to the latest statistics from the Gaza Ministry of Health on July 18, Israeli military operations in Gaza have caused 1,144 deaths and 3,743 injuries since the entry into force of the first-phase Gaza ceasefire agreement on October 10, 2025. Since the escalation of the Palestine-Israel conflict in October 2023, Israeli military actions in Gaza have killed more than 73,182 people and injured 173,839.
5. Jordan
U.S. Military Base Attacked, Leaving 2 Dead and Multiple Injured. On July 17, the U.S. military reported that its bases in Jordan had sustained four attacks via Iranian missiles and drones in five days, resulting in 2 U.S. soldiers killed, 4 injured and 1 missing. The first strike hit residential facilities at King Faisal Air Base, injuring 5 U.S. personnel. The second targeted an eastern Jordan base, damaging multiple U.S. Black Hawk helicopters. The subsequent two attacks occurred at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, causing fatalities and multiple injuries.
6. Kuwait
Multiple Kuwaiti Sites Struck by Iran. On July 17, the Kuwaiti military confirmed that Iran launched multiple drone attacks on the U.S. Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, injuring several military personnel. In addition, a local power generation and seawater desalination facility was severely damaged in the attack, with multiple generator units crippled. Kuwait strongly condemned the strikes, stating that they violated Kuwait’s sovereignty and international law.
7. Saudi Arabia
Abha International Airport Attacked by Houthi Rebels. On July 13, Yemen’s Houthi movement claimed responsibility for launching missiles and drones targeting Abha International Airport in southwestern Saudi Arabia, in retaliation for Saudi airstrikes on Sana’a International Airport in Yemen on the same day. Saudi air defense forces intercepted all incoming missiles targeting southern Saudi territories.
8. Bahrain
U.S. Corporate Headquarters in Bahrain Attacked. On July 13, the headquarters of a U.S. enterprise in Bahrain was attacked and caught fire. The Bahraini Ministry of Interior confirmed on the same day that Iran launched retaliatory strikes against U.S. military facilities in Bahrain, triggering two nationwide air defense alerts.
Asia-Pacific Region
1. Pakistan
Two Armed Attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Leave 3 Dead and 20 Injured. On July 15, two armed attacks occurred in northwestern Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. Militants ambushed a security forces convoy in Upper Dir District, killing 3 police officers and injuring 15 others. Hours later, attackers rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into a police station in Bannu District, injuring at least 5 people. No group has claimed responsibility for the incidents.
Counter-Terrorism Operations Kill 29 Militants. Pakistani security forces eliminated 5 terrorists in counter-terrorism operations in Balochistan Province on July 13. On July 17, another operation in and around Bannu City, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, killed 24 terrorists, bringing the total weekly death toll of militants to 29.
2. Philippines
U.S. Marine Biologist Shot Dead in Negros Island. Media reports on July 15 confirmed that 73-year-old renowned U.S. marine biologist Kent Carpenter was shot dead at his residence on Negros Island on the night of July 12. Three masked intruders broke into his house and shot him in the head on the spot. The suspects fled with a laptop, cash and a backpack. Local police preliminarily ruled the incident a home invasion robbery.
3. Japan
Stabbing Incident in Oita Prefecture Injures 4. On July 13, a stabbing attack occurred in Saiki City, Oita Prefecture, leaving 4 people injured. The suspect was arrested at the scene, and police are conducting further investigations.
4. India
Stampede During Festival Kills 2 in Puri. On July 16, a stampede broke out during the annual Rath Yatra festival in Puri City, eastern India, killing at least 2 people and injuring over 100 others. The chaos erupted when crowds surged to make way for an ambulance, triggering a mass stampede.
Africa
1. Nigeria
Multiple Attacks Leave 8 Dead and 6 Abducted. According to field monitoring reports from Hanwei International West Africa security officers, armed militants raided a community in Benue State, central Nigeria, on July 12, killing 8 civilians. On July 14, gunmen attacked a government secondary school in Olowa, Dekina Local Government Area, Kogi State, abducting 4 students, the school principal and a temporary staff member of the National Examinations Council (NECO).
2. South Africa
Stabbing Attack Injures Tourist on Table Mountain. South African Police Service reported on July 16 that a stabbing assault took place near Tafelberg Road on Cape Town’s Table Mountain, a famous scenic spot. A jogger was attacked and injured by three assailants.
3. Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)
Ebola Outbreak Causes 828 Deaths. According to the latest epidemic report released by the DRC Ministry of Health on July 16, the current Ebola outbreak has recorded 2,124 confirmed cases and 828 deaths, spreading across five provinces: Ituri, North Kivu, South Kivu, Haut-Uele and Tshopo. The World Health Organization warned on July 14 that the outbreak remains severe, with most new cases linked to unknown transmission chains and the virus spreading at a record-high speed.
4. Sudan
Armed Conflicts Continue. From July 13 to 19, sustained armed clashes continued between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) across Sudan, with major confrontations concentrated in Blue Nile State, North Kordofan, South Kordofan and Darfur. On July 16, the Sudanese military released a periodic battle report, claiming battlefield victories in multiple fronts in early-to-mid July, destroying 205 enemy combat vehicles and 17 supply trucks, seizing 21 combat vehicles, and shooting down 4 attack drones. The RSF has not responded to the announcement.
5. Senegal
One Chinese Citizen Killed and One Injured in Dakar Invasion Attack. On July 15, a residential invasion attack occurred at Villa No.3, Golf South District, Guédiawaye Department, Dakar Region, Senegal, leaving one Chinese national dead and one injured. Two assailants broke into the villa and clashed with residents, causing the casualties. One suspect has been detained while the other remains at large. Police are investigating the motive of the attack.
6. Mali
Military Convoy Ambushed, 50 Killed. On July 18, a Malian military convoy traveling from Anefis to Gao in northern Mali was ambushed by armed militants, causing 50 fatalities. Two militant groups, the separatist Azawad Liberation Front and the extremist Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (GSIM), claimed joint responsibility for the attack.
Europe and America
1. United States
One Fatality in Maine Law Enforcement Operation. On July 13, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents shot and killed a man during an deportation enforcement operation in Biddeford, Maine. The suspect attempted to crash his vehicle into law enforcement officers while resisting deportation, leading to the fatal shooting.
Boat Capsizing Near San Francisco Leaves 1 Dead and 2 Missing. On July 14, a vessel carrying 19 people capsized near Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay, California, leaving 1 dead, 2 missing and 16 rescued. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
2. Ukraine
Russia-Ukraine Armed Conflicts Persist. Continuous military confrontations took place between Russia and Ukraine from July 13 to 19. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Russian forces launched 19 cluster strikes using air and ground-based high-precision long-range weapons and attack drones over the week. Targets included Ukrainian port infrastructure, military enterprises, ammunition depots, logistics centers, fuel, energy and transportation facilities, UAV manufacturing and storage sites, and temporary deployment positions of Ukrainian troops and foreign mercenaries. Russian air defense systems shot down 68 precision-guided aerial bombs, 7 U.S.-made HIMARS rockets, 2 long-range cruise missiles and 4,661 fixed-wing drones. Russian forces seized three residential areas in Donbas and Kharkiv.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that Ukrainian troops repelled multiple Russian offensives in Bakhmut, Kupiansk and Zaporizhzhia. Ukrainian forces destroyed over ten frontline outposts, 6 ammunition and fuel depots, and multiple drone command posts via drone and long-range fire strikes, and targeted Russian logistics vessels in the Black Sea and Sea of Azov. Ukraine also launched in-depth strikes on Russian military bases, oil and energy facilities and military targets in Russian-controlled areas, including the Engels Air Base, Crimean Air Base, three fixed radar stations, three oil storage tanks at Caucasus Port, and oil depots in Vyazniki, Stavropol Krai.
3. Russia
UAV Attacks Cause 15 Deaths and 68 Injuries. From the night of July 12 to early morning of July 13, Moscow Oblast was targeted by over 350 drones. Most were intercepted at long range, while 50 were destroyed over urban areas. Falling debris killed 3 people, injured 3 others and set fire to 5 residential buildings. On July 14, a Ukrainian drone struck a multi-story residential building in Solnechnogorsk, Moscow Oblast, injuring 2 people.
On July 15, Alexander Yakovlev, chief engineer of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, and his driver were killed in a Ukrainian drone attack at the junction of the nuclear plant and Enerhodar. On July 18, Ukrainian drone strikes on two logistics centers in Tambov Oblast and Moscow Oblast killed 9 people and injured 62, triggering warehouse fires. The same day, drone attacks on Belgorod Oblast killed 1 and injured 1, while strikes on energy facilities in Kursk Oblast caused power outages affecting over 46,000 residents.
4. Denmark
Shooting Incident in Jutland Injures 3. On July 17, a shooting incident occurred in northern Jutland Peninsula, leaving three people injured, including the gunman and one police officer.
5. Mexico
Multi-Vehicle Collision Kills 9 and Injures 10 in Jalisco. Media reports on July 13 stated that a highway multi-car pileup in Jalisco State on July 12 killed 9 people, injured approximately 10 others, and burned multiple vehicles. The accident cause remains under investigation.
6. Colombia
Anti-Kidnapping Operation Leaves 2 Soldiers Dead and 5 Injured. On July 14, anti-government militants hijacked a passenger bus carrying 45 civilians on the highway between Quibdó and El Carmen de Atrato in Chocó Department, abducting all passengers. Colombian military and police launched a joint rescue operation and freed all 45 hostages, though the operation left 2 soldiers dead and 5 injured.
7. Netherlands
Two Attacks Leave One Injured. On July 13, a stabbing attack at a refugee reception center in Den Helder, North Holland, injured one person, with the suspect arrested on site. On the same day, a shooting incident occurred at a residential building in Amsterdam, North Holland, causing no casualties. Relevant investigations are ongoing.
8. Germany
Mass Stabbing in Bavaria Injures 8. On July 19, a stabbing rampage in a village in Bavaria State injured 8 people. The attacker remains at large.
Maritime Security
1. Gulf of Oman and Strait of Hormuz
Tanker Attacks Cause 2 Deaths, 20 Injuries and 3 Missing. On July 14, two ultra-large crude oil tankers from the United Arab Emirates were attacked by the IRGC in the Strait of Hormuz, leaving 2 crew members dead, 14 injured and the vessels severely damaged. The IRGC stated that the tankers were maliciously manipulated by the U.S., sailing through minefields without activating navigation systems and ignoring repeated security warnings before being disabled by IRGC naval fire.
On the same day, three Liberian-flagged tankers were attacked off the coast of Oman, causing 3 crew members missing and 6 injured. On July 15, U.S. Central Command announced that U.S. military aircraft fired Hellfire missiles at an empty tanker heading for Iranian ports, disabling the vessel.
2. Somalia
Oil Tanker Hijacked by Somali Pirates. On July 17, Yemen Coast Guard reported that Somali pirates hijacked the oil tanker ASANA approximately 26 nautical miles off the coast of Hadhramaut Governorate, Yemen. Vessel tracking data showed the ship departed from Karachi Port, Pakistan, en route to Bosaso, Puntland, Somalia. Yemeni coast guard and naval forces are closely monitoring the vessel’s movement.
3. Libya
Migrant Boat Capsizing Causes 50 Deaths and Disappearances. On July 14, an illegal migrant boat carrying approximately 60 people capsized off Bardia, eastern Libya, leaving at least 50 people dead or missing, with only 10 survivors rescued. The capsizing cause remains unknown.
4. Indonesia
Passenger Ship Sinks, Leaving 1 Dead and 24 Missing. On July 15, a passenger vessel sank due to engine failure off South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. The accident killed 1 person and left 24 missing. The ship was carrying 74 passengers and crew, among whom 49 were rescued.
5. Guyana
Ferry Sinks with Dozens Missing. On July 18, the ferry Barima carrying 116 passengers sank in waters near Guyana, leaving dozens of people missing. So far, 67 passengers have been rescued, while the rest remain unaccounted for.
