This briefing compiles global regional security intelligence updates covering the period from July 6 to July 12, 2026. In accordance with security risk assessments, regional security risk levels are marked on the Global Risk Map. Afghanistan, Syria, Myanmar, Pakistan, Nigeria, Sudan, Ukraine, Palestine, Venezuela and other territories are designated as extremely high-risk zones. Frequent security incidents including armed conflicts and terrorist attacks have broken out across these regions during this timeframe. Chinese-funded enterprises operating overseas must reinforce their security prevention measures. (This intelligence document is solely for internal corporate risk assessment use.)
Middle East Region
(1) Syria
Bombing attacks in Damascus kill 1, injure 36. On July 7, two explosions erupted near the Ministry of Tourism building in downtown Damascus, the capital of Syria, leaving one dead and 36 injured. French President Emmanuel Macron was staying at a nearby hotel when the blasts occurred. On July 10, the head of security services in Rural Damascus Governorate stated that preliminary investigations indicated the armed group behind the July 7 bombings in Damascus was affiliated with the extremist organization Islamic State (ISIS).

(2) Iran
Renewed armed clashes break out between Iran and the United States. Negotiations between Iran and the U.S. remained suspended from July 6 to 12, amid fresh military confrontations. On July 7, U.S. Central Command announced that the U.S. military had launched a series of decisive strikes against Iran in retaliation for Iran’s prior attacks on three merchant vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz. As of July 12, the U.S. had carried out four rounds of strikes targeting 140 Iranian assets, including air defense systems, command-and-control networks, coastal radar stations, missile and drone storage depots, and fast attack craft. On July 9, U.S. forces additionally bombed two railway bridges in coastal southern Iran and an eastbound rail artery leading to Mashhad.
The Iranian government condemned the U.S. strikes as a grave violation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the U.S., vowing resolute countermeasures by the Iranian Armed Forces. On July 8, the naval and air forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched missile and drone assaults against 85 U.S. military installations based in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan. Iran warned the U.S. that further acts of aggression would prompt retaliatory strikes against additional American military bases across the Middle East.
In terms of casualties and combat losses, Iran’s Ministry of Health issued a statement on July 9 confirming that consecutive U.S. airstrikes targeting five Iranian provinces had killed 14 civilians and wounded 78 others. On the U.S. side, two MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down.
Shooting incident in Mashhad leaves 2 dead. On July 10, a shooting took place in Mashhad, the holy city in northeastern Iran, killing two people. The motive behind the incident and the identities of the deceased remain unconfirmed.
(3) Palestine and Israel
Israel-Palestine conflict death toll in Gaza tops 73,100. Multiple Israeli strikes hit various locations across Gaza between July 6 and 12, causing heavy casualties. On July 7, an Israeli drone struck a civilian vehicle in Gaza City, killing three people including Muhammad Wahidi, Director of Public Relations at the Egyptian Relief Committee operating in Gaza. The same day, multiple Israeli airstrikes hit Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, claiming three more lives.
The Gaza Strip Health Ministry released updated statistics on July 9: since the entry into force of the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement on October 10, 2025, Israeli military operations in Gaza have killed 1,072 Palestinians and injured 3,463 others. Since the eruption of the large-scale Israel-Palestine conflict in October 2023, Israeli military campaigns in the Gaza Strip have resulted in a cumulative death toll of over 73,110 Palestinians, with 173,599 recorded injuries.
(4) Lebanon
Sustained Israeli military assaults inflict heavy casualties. Israel carried out continuous military strikes on Lebanon from July 6 to 12, resulting in mass casualties. On July 8, Israeli fighter jets bombed multiple targets in the Aita al-Taher woodland and Bint Jbeil districts of southern Nabatiyeh Governorate, leaving numerous people dead and wounded. Data released by Lebanon’s Ministry of Health on July 7 showed that since the resumption of hostilities between Lebanon and Israel on March 2, Israeli attacks on Lebanon have killed 4,320 people and injured 12,203.
(5) Jordan
Jordanian air defense intercepts eight Iranian missiles. On July 9, the Jordanian Armed Forces released a statement confirming its air defense system had intercepted eight Iranian missiles targeting a U.S. military base in Zarqa City. The Jordanian military is closely monitoring regional developments and maintaining maximum alert status.
(6) Kuwait
Kuwait intercepts Iranian missiles and drones. Kuwait’s military announced on July 9 that it had intercepted multiple Iranian missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles the same day. The IRGC issued a corresponding statement confirming it had launched missile and drone attacks on Ali Al Salem Air Base and Arifjan Base located in Kuwait.
Late on July 12, three land border outposts in northern Kuwait came under attack, sustaining partial structural damage. Separately, an offshore oil rig operated by Kuwait Oil Company was hit by a drone, injuring one worker and damaging equipment.
(7) Qatar
Shrapnel from intercepted Iranian missiles injures three, including one child. Qatar’s Ministry of Defense confirmed the country had come under Iranian missile attack on July 12. Three missiles launched from Iran landed within Jordanian territory without causing fatalities, only minor property damage. The Qatari civilian casualties were caused by falling shrapnel from intercepted ordnance.
The Oman News Agency reported the same day that multiple sites in Musandam Governorate in northern Oman, which borders the Strait of Hormuz, were targeted by drone strikes.
U.S. Central Command announced on July 11 that it had launched the third round of U.S. strikes against Iran within the week. Iran subsequently launched a wave of retaliatory attacks targeting U.S. assets across the Middle East, triggering air defense activation and air raid sirens in numerous regional nations.
Asia-Pacific Region
(1) Afghanistan
Chinese Embassy in Afghanistan issues security alert. On July 8, the Chinese Embassy in Afghanistan released a security notice warning that the security situation in Afghanistan has turned severe and volatile. Chinese citizens and institutions based in Afghanistan are advised to track local security developments, boost risk awareness, strengthen security arrangements for residences and travel, and avoid regular, predictable travel routes.
(2) Pakistan
Police compound attack in Balochistan kills nine officers. On July 6, terrorists assaulted a police facility in southwestern Balochistan Province of Pakistan, killing nine police personnel.
Counter-terror sweep operations in Balochistan leave 11 security personnel dead, 34 terrorists eliminated. On July 6, Pakistani security forces launched large-scale clearance operations across Balochistan Province, neutralizing 15 terrorists. Provincial authorities stated that militants had raided a police checkpoint earlier that day, prompting inter-agency joint counter-terrorism sweeps that rescued eight abducted police officers and killed 15 assailants. On July 8, further clearance operations in Balochistan eliminated at least 19 terrorists, with 11 security personnel killed in the fighting.
(3) Kazakhstan
Shooting in Aktau leaves one injured. On July 9, a shooting incident broke out at a bar in Aktau City, Mangystau Region, Kazakhstan. A male patron was shot and wounded with a flare gun during an alcohol-fueled altercation. The suspect has been arrested by local police.
(4) Japan
Large-scale protest rallies erupt in Tokyo. On July 10, mass demonstrations took place once again in Tokyo to protest a series of risky policies and legislative bills recently pushed by the Sanae Takaichi administration. Approximately 27,000 people gathered for the in-person rally, with an additional 110,000 participating online. Protesters on-site voiced outrage that the government’s current policy agenda is laying groundwork for warfare.

(5) Sri Lanka
Prison riot in Negombo kills 25. A riot broke out at a prison in Negombo, a western Sri Lankan city, on July 6, leaving 25 dead and roughly 100 injured. The fatalities include five prison staff and twenty inmates. Police stated that two inmate factions clashed on the afternoon of July 5, killing two prisoners and wounding over thirty; authorities claimed order had been restored that day, yet renewed fighting erupted at the facility on the morning of July 6. Additional police forces have been deployed to the prison to stabilize the situation.
(6) Cambodia
Border explosive blast injures four patrol soldiers. On July 6, a spokesperson for Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defense confirmed an explosive device detonated along the Cambodia-Thailand border on July 5, wounding four Cambodian border patrol troops. Frontline command staff and expert panels from Cambodia are investigating the blast.
Africa Region
(1) Nigeria
Multiple armed attacks kill nine, abduct three. According to monitoring reports submitted by Hanwei International’s West Africa-based security officers:
On July 5, an army vehicle triggered an improvised explosive device near Babanna Village, Borgu Local Government Area, Niger State, killing three soldiers and wounding multiple others.
Late on July 7, a gang led by bandit leader Bello Turji raided Lakinge Community, Sabon Birni Local Government Area, Sokoto State, leaving five dead, eight injured, and multiple women abducted.
Late on July 9, bandits attacked Mpape Community, Bwari Area Council, Federal Capital Territory, killing one security guard and abducting three civilians.
Forty-six abducted teachers and students rescued. On July 10, Nigeria’s Presidential Villa announced the military had successfully rescued 46 teachers and students kidnapped by armed militants two months prior. Three schools in Oyo State, southwestern Nigeria, were attacked on May 15, with 46 teaching staff and students seized. Several terrorists were eliminated and eight arrested during the rescue operation.
(2) South Africa
Two shootings in Western Cape kill seven, injure five. Late on July 8, two consecutive shooting incidents took place in Cape Flats, Cape Town, Western Cape Province, claiming seven lives and wounding five people.
The first shooting unfolded at the intersection of Laura Street and Eighth Avenue, Tafelsig, Mitchells Plain, where unknown gunmen opened fire on five men outside a corner shop, killing three and injuring two. Twenty minutes later, a second shooting occurred at a residence in Philippi East, with seven people struck by gunfire. Investigations into both incidents are underway, and the attackers’ motives remain unconfirmed.
(3) Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)
Ebola outbreak death toll reaches 600. On July 8, the DRC Ministry of Health issued a bulletin recording 1,759 cumulative confirmed cases of the ongoing Ebola epidemic, including 600 fatalities. The Africa Regional Office of the World Health Organization released a report on July 7 noting that the Ebola outbreak in the DRC continues to escalate, spreading persistently across eastern provinces including Ituri and North Kivu. WHO risk assessments classify the public health risk level in the DRC as "very high", with sustained, widespread transmission exceeding local response capacities.
(4) Sudan
Armed conflict persists. Continuous clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and Rapid Support Forces (RSF) unfolded across multiple Sudanese regions from July 6 to 12. This week, heavy fighting concentrated in Blue Nile State in the south, North Darfur State in the west, and North Kordofan State in central Sudan.
In Blue Nile State, the SAF successfully recaptured Kurmuk, a key border town. North Kordofan State saw a sharp rise in drone attacks that caused heavy civilian casualties:
On July 6, a drone struck a civilian vehicle packed with wedding attendees in Al Shatut Town, North Kordofan, killing 13 people.
On July 7, a drone targeted a water tanker in Hamrat Al Sheikh, North Kordofan, leaving two dead and ten wounded.
(5) Mali
Over 300 armed militants eliminated. On July 7, the General Staff of the Malian Armed Forces released a communiqué stating the military had carried out joint air-ground clearance operations in Anefis, Kidal Region in northern Mali on July 6, eliminating more than 200 terrorists. Malian warplanes conducted 35 airstrikes in Anefis that day, destroying five armored vehicles, approximately 20 pickup trucks and 100 motorcycles, and killing over 200 insurgents. On July 8, further counter-terrorism operations in Anefis (Kidal Region) and Tabrichat (Gao Region) eliminated an additional 100-plus terrorists.
(6) Ethiopia
Attack in East Arsi kills four. On July 8, multiple localities in Asoko, East Arsi Zone, came under assault by the terrorist Oromo Liberation Army (OLA), leaving four civilians dead. This marks the second large-scale attack the zone has suffered within a matter of weeks.
Europe and the Americas Region
(1) United States
Houston protests erupt over fatal shooting of migrant. On July 9, marches were held in Houston, Texas, to denounce the fatal shooting of Mexican national Lorenzo Salgado Araujo by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents on July 7. Over 1,000 demonstrators gathered near the site of the killing that evening, demanding the federal government release all relevant video footage and documents, and launch an independent, comprehensive investigation into the shooting.
(2) Ukraine
Russia-Ukraine armed hostilities continue. Military confrontations between Russia and Ukraine persisted from July 6 to 12. The Russian Ministry of Defense released a recent battle report stating that over the past week, Russian armed forces delivered one concentrated strike and six massed attacks against Ukrainian military-industrial complexes and fuel-energy infrastructure using long-range land, sea and air-launched weapons plus attack drones. Russian forces also targeted 144 Ukrainian port facilities, energy hubs, logistics depots, and temporary staging areas housing Ukrainian troops and foreign mercenaries.
Air defense assets intercepted and destroyed 19 Ukrainian guided aerial bombs, 27 U.S.-supplied HIMARS rockets, two Neptune long-range cruise missiles, and 2,797 fixed-wing drones. The Russian Black Sea Fleet sank six Ukrainian unmanned surface vessels, and Russian troops seized seven settlements while continuing their westward advance along the Lyman axis.
On the Ukrainian side, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported over a thousand frontline skirmishes throughout the week. Ukrainian troops repelled Russian offensives on multiple axes and launched numerous counterattacks. Ukraine’s air force, missile units and artillery carried out effective strikes against seven Russian troop assembly zones and eight drone control posts. Ukrainian forces also hit multiple targets inside Russian territory and Russian-occupied areas, including oil refineries, oil terminals, storage depots, natural gas condensate processing plants, and 18 vessels including oil tankers.
In addition, Kyiv city and Kyiv Oblast endured a wave of Russian missile and drone strikes overnight July 5–6, killing at least 24 civilians and wounding 106. This marked the second large-scale aerial bombardment targeting the Kyiv metropolitan area within seven days.

(3) Russia
Ukrainian drone attacks kill seven, injure 27.On July 6, Moscow was assaulted by 430 Ukrainian drones. Most were intercepted at long range by air defense units, with 36 destroyed as they approached the city limits. The same day, the Omsk Oil Refinery in Omsk Oblast sustained long-range strikes by Ukrainian special operations forces, igniting and damaging two crude distillation units.
On July 8, two oil tankers en route to Rostov-on-Don were hit by Ukrainian drones in the Taganrog Bay of Rostov Oblast, wounding two crew members and damaging the hulls. Separately, the Krasnodar compressor station of the Blue Stream natural gas pipeline in Krasnodar Krai sustained drone damage; a village in Belgorod Oblast was struck, killing one resident and injuring six; civilian casualties including two fatalities and fifteen wounded were recorded from drone raids in the Kherson region.
On July 10, Russian air defense systems destroyed 376 Ukrainian drones nationwide, with multiple petroleum facilities catching fire after impacts.
On July 12, a bus station and a private car in Enerhodar, the satellite town adjacent to the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, were targeted by Ukrainian drones, killing four people and injuring four more. Concurrent drone assaults inflicted casualties across Belgorod, Samara, Tula and other Russian regions.
(4) Ecuador
Shootings in Manabí Province kill five. Two shooting incidents occurred in Manta City, western Manabí Province, Ecuador on July 8, leaving five dead. Gunmen opened fire at a public event in Manta, killing four attendees; several hours later, a male pedestrian was shot at close range by two motorcycle-riding assailants and died on the spot. Police have cordoned off both crime scenes, and investigations into the attackers’ identities and motives are ongoing.
(5) Argentina
Fan riots in Buenos Aires injure 14. Violent unrest erupted among football fans in Buenos Aires, Argentina’s capital, late on July 7, injuring five police officers and nine bystanders, with at least nineteen rioters arrested. Thousands of supporters gathered at the Obelisk, the city’s landmark monument, to celebrate Argentina’s come-from-behind victory over Egypt that secured a quarter-final berth. During the gathering, some attendees hurled stones and glass bottles at security police. Authorities cordoned off streets surrounding the Obelisk and dispersed the crowd. The root cause of the riot remains under investigation.
(6) Germany
School shooting in Bavaria. A shooting incident took place at a secondary school in Schongau, southern Bavaria, Germany on July 8, leaving multiple people wounded. One suspect has been taken into custody. Police have yet to confirm the suspect’s identity, and inquiries into the incident’s trigger and surrounding circumstances are underway.

(7) Mexico
Shooting at pyramid tourist site in State of Mexico kills one Canadian tourist, injures thirteen. On July 9, a shooting erupted at a pyramid scenic area in the State of Mexico, killing one Canadian visitor and wounding thirteen other people. The gunman fled the scene after the attack, and police are conducting a full investigation while hunting for the perpetrator.
(8) Canada
Shooting at Toronto festival kills two, injures six. A shooting broke out at the St. Clair Salsa Festival in Toronto, Canada on July 11, resulting in two fatalities and six wounded attendees. Police have not released detailed information regarding the shooter to date.

(9) Chile
Vehicle ramming attack in Valparaíso Region kills six. On July 12, a vehicle plowed into crowds at the Copolicán Market in Viña del Mar, Valparaíso Region, Chile, killing six pedestrians and injuring seven others. The driver responsible for the crash has been arrested, and police have opened a formal investigation into the incident.
Maritime Security
(1) Strait of Hormuz
Multiple merchant vessels attacked. On July 7, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) released an advisory stating three oil tankers came under drone attack while transiting the Strait of Hormuz within a 24-hour window. A Qatari liquefied natural gas carrier and a Saudi oil tanker were sequentially targeted while navigating the Omani side shipping lanes of the strait. A third commercial vessel sustained minor structural damage from a separate drone strike in the same waters. No casualties or pollution incidents have been reported.
(2) Vietnam
Speedboat capsizes near Phú Quốc Island, killing fifteen. On July 11, a speedboat sank in waters off southern Vietnam’s Phú Quốc Island, killing fifteen people. The vessel was carrying 32 Indian tourists, three crew members and one staff member when a sudden mechanical failure caused it to capsize, throwing all occupants overboard. Twenty-one people have been rescued, eighteen of whom suffered severe injuries and were hospitalized. Authorities are investigating the root cause of the accident.
